Late last year, our family was hit with news no one ever wants to hear, my wife was diagnosed with cancer. It was a gut punch. Life suddenly felt fragile, uncertain. But we held on tightly to one thing: hope. Hope that we caught it early. Hope that treatment would restore her health.

And now, as we near the end of her chemotherapy, with promising numbers and brighter days ahead, I’ve been reflecting on something profound:

🌟 Even in the hardest of times, something beautiful can rise.

For my wife, that beauty came in the form of sourdough.

Yes, bread. But not just any bread.

In the midst of doctor’s visits and chemo sessions, she found comfort and creativity in perfecting her sourdough recipe. What started as a distraction became a passion. With patience, persistence, and more than a few flour-covered counters, she refined her process, learning, adjusting, and baking her way through this chapter.

Each loaf became more than just food. It was a small act of resilience. A quiet reminder that healing can be both physical and emotional.

Today, her sourdough is a staple in our home; classic loaves, adventurous flavors, and shapes that always spark joy. And just like her, every one of them is made with heart.

I am endlessly proud of her. Through all the ups and downs, she has remained the steady, humorous, and strong rock of our family. She has faced cancer with courage and grace and in just a few weeks, we’re looking forward to ringing that “end of chemotherapy” bell.

👉 To anyone going through something tough: hold on. There’s light, growth, and sometimes even sourdough waiting on the other side.

Here are a few photos of her beautiful creations. I hope they bring you a smile, just as they’ve brought so much warmth to our home.
